British Army Background
The British Army Group Scheme was officially launched in February 2004 after various discussions and presentation to the representative of the MOD through the office of Colonial (Retired) HE Welby – Everard, MBE on behalf of the Director of Personal Services (Army), Headquarters Adjutant General, based at Wilshire with the consultation of the then Fiji High Commission to the United Kingdom, Mr Emitai Boladuadua at the Fiji High Commission office in London.
Purpose
The purpose of the scheme is to assist Fiji nationals serving in the British Armed Forces with an affordable medium of transferring remittances to Fiji. These remittances range from Life Insurance premiums, Health insurance premiums, Mortgage repayments and personal funds for their families. Some remittances have been diverted into investment facilities at the bank or managed funds with Colonial.
